How to install a TimberTough Fence?

Fence panels can be installed in a few ways. Pre-drill the stringers at a 45-degree angle and drive a 4” coated deck screw into the post. Blocking under the fence panels attached to the posts can be added for additional support.

Why do the boards have a rough texture?

The hemlock fence boards have a rough texture for several reasons. The rough texture highlights the natural grains in the wood and absorbs the finishing stain extremely well for maximum durability. The texture also disturbs the surface tension on the surface of the wood and helps to reduce cracking and ring shaker.

 

Does hemlock and cedar last?

Eastern white cedar is used on TimberTough fences and Planters. The areas that have the most contact with water are the stringers of the fence and the legs of the planter. White cedar is known for its extreme durability of up to 27 years for a round post. The fence boards and walls of the planters are hemlock are tough as well and has excellent durability especially when direct water contact is limited.

What do I use for posts with my TimberTough panels?

TimberTough panels can be installed using any posts, we recommend cedar 5x5 or 6x6 posts stained to match or complement the fence. Pressure treated posts are a durable option as well.

For privacy screens we recommend the Hoft
hoftsolutions.com/ metal post found at many home improvement centers.

Where does the lumber come from?

TimberTough wood comes from Ontario and Quebec, Canada. The wood finishes are sold and manufactured in Ontario.
